A Real Success
Howick Village was in serious decline before becoming a BID. The idea of paying extra rates to fund a Business Association was anathema to businesspeople who believed they contributed the most rates in their city so paying more was abhorrent.
A 1999 survey identified a decline in Takapuna of foot traffic between 25-35% over the previous year. There were also a large number of vacant commercial spaces with $2 and sex shops tenanting what had previously been top quality street locations.

Major Redevelopment Project
Greymouth CBD Redevelopment Plan was to build on a previous plan, getting down to specifics on improving the local economy, finding a core of the CBD, and bringing an overall vision and method of implementation to achieve sustainable outcomes.
